This will come as no surprise to any one given they are a .ml account, but now that they are attempting to discourage people from voting, they revealed their true face.

Edit: only now seeing they also post links to x.com still. I liked their content because I am anti genocide too, but it’s clear there’s a big the_donald vibe there.

How is encouraging people to vote the same as manufacturing consent?

Encouraging people to vote for people who support genocide is manufacturing consent for genocide

I’m encouraging people to vote. That’s it. Nothing to do with genocide.

And to avoid this from going too long, I’ve had a bit of a side discussion with geneva after this, and after asking multiple times, it’s pretty obvious they are a closet trump supporter, which is incredibly insincere, considering they are using the Palestinian genocide to do it.

No, it's not obvious, at all. It's just a wild, unsupported, bad faith accusation. None of the examples you provided do anything but make you look clueless about the whole topic. Minimizing the genocide in the way you are doing as though it's just a niche side issue after you deal with Trump, is exactly the sort of thing that gets principled people offside.

It’s just a matter of perspective my friend. I am talking about getting people to vote to get trump out, and this particular vocal minority, fully armed with typical pro-trump supporting talking points comes in with what is essentially, ‘but what about the genocide’ whataboutism.

“How dare you say a genocide is whataboutism” Yes, exactly, that’s how whataboutism works. You derail, because you don’t like the original objective of getting people to vote, because your work for or are ideologically aligned with trump.

So, I’ll put you through the same test: are you a trump supporter?

That question was asked 3 times to geneva, and then they blocked me. If you, after all that happened, can’t say for sure your are not in favour to have the most corrupt creepy guy leading the most overdeveloped military in the world, you have in fact shown your true colours.

So you sweeping in here to defend that type of behaviour doesn’t look all that promising, but I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt.

I think trump is a disgusting piece of human filth. I also think America is the biggest threat to humanity in general. Trump is rapidly sinking American soft and hard power, and showing the world americas true colors.

He's accidentally a great man of history, lol.

Saying stuff like that doesn’t help your instance reputation.

So you’re left wing, but think Trump is an accidental great man because he shoots his own citizens in in the street and bombs girl schools in Iran.

And your handle is non-confrontational, but you don’t shy away from a wee bit of confrontation.

I don’t mind trump supporters. I mind them being coy and deceitful about it. Just say you love trump. Say you don’t mind a pedophile as president of the most powerful nation on earth. Say it out loud. Let your daughters and your mothers hear it.

No, I think he should have been executed after his first coup attempt. He's a rapist, pedophile, war criminal. He's also singlehandedly defeating the United States, which has done nothing except bring death and destruction to the rest of the globe since the end of WWII.

    This is pretty simple stuff.

Can’t wait to hear what term they’ll come up with one day for people who equate voter encouragement and pro democratic stances with ‘manufacturing consent for a genocide’ (but only thát genocide, and not thàt one over there). Well, it’s text book whataboutism, but that one is instance-legal, because

I 100% stand behind everything I said in here. I actually can’t believe people need convincing trump needs to go. That alone should be the end of my patience discussing this, but I’m curious to explore this newly found type of leftist that has all the halmarks of extreme right wing trump supporter, except that they use it because they wish death to america.

I honestly don’t understand what’s bad faith about that. I believe in the power of democracy anywhere. When a state is close to failing, it’s democracy fails first. Happened in Russia, China, now India, USA is on the brink. Brazil hanging on by a thread. That’s it. Israel was always going to use a false flag to get an excuse to start a genocide. I have been to Xinjang province and seen the other genocide with my own eyes.

Voting to get a non trump supporting seat that can get under trumps skin in the senate in texas is the first step to try and restore faith in US democracy.

That’s my naivity, and that could very well be a neurological conditon. I’m for free speech. If you want to come in here and call me a removed or zionist, you do you, that doesn’t bother me, because I know and love myself, so it doesn’t affect me.

Why you are spending so much time defending a bunch of whataboutists that are clearly not caring about democracy or free speech is a bit strange.

You can argue for electoralism without resorting to neoliberal "pragmatism."

It sounds like you're encountering actual leftism for the first time. I get that it's hard to understand perspectives that you don't have the foundation for- there are countless books about all this, and you're approaching it like it's a monolith that shares the same foundation that your perspective is built on but simply holds a different conclusion.

I feel like in order to help you understand, I'd have to explain all of leftism and philosophy: Reformist vs revolutionary approaches; pragmatism vs idealism; consequentialist vs virtue vs deontological ethics; electoralism; praxis... I think if you actually want to understand then you should first seek understanding of the foundations that these opinions/perspectives are built on.

Correct, and we don’t have that kind of time Gary.

So simply either join me in my attempt to help Americans get rid of their head pedophile. One step at a time.

You know who else doesn’t have time to read stacks of books: every american voter. They are under water, trying to survive. They don’t have to vote, it’s not compulsory. So focus on the task ahead.

I’m sure you’re a great philosopher and someone amazing to have deep conversations with over a cup of tea at a library, but here in the real world, we have a fledgeling democracy on the brink of collapse, and if we don’t try to hang on to saving it, I doubt we will even be able to have conversations on this very platform for much longer. They control a lot of what we take for granted and there are some really incredible people there (just as there are in palestine, china, russia, ukraine, and I suppose even in Israel)

In today’s america, for this election, I’d be very surprised if you are the single person who can find a pathway to do this without the dreaded pragmatism.

    Literally been explained multiple times.

When a state is close to failing, it’s democracy fails first. Happened in Russia, China, now India, USA is on the brink.

Lmao. It been scientifically proven that the US hasn't been a democracy for decades, if ever. It's beholden to the minority elite with unlimited power and wealth to influence elections.

    Lmfao.

How? Because you don’t love trump? You still think he’s accidentally great, or did that change in the last hour? You still don’t want US elections to mean anything? You still think the smartest and fastest way to get rid of US imperialism is by letting a country of 330mil people start a civil war with the biggest nuclear arsenal in their hands?

If you can’t outright condemn and want this dude out by all means necessary, then yes, I hope you can look the women in your life in the eye and live with yourself.

The "Great" figures of history weren't great in a colloquial sense. They were considered "great" because they had a large impact on the world, not because they were well loved. So describing Trump as an accidental great man of history is not a compliment, it's merely descriptive of the huge global impact he is having destroying US hegemony.

And if you don't know anything about politics what are you even doing here? I mean it's cute you are claiming to just be getting people to "get out and vote" but if they haven't made their mind up about that by now, why do you imagine your mewling here will make the slightest difference? The Democrats didn't lose last time because of leftists, they lost because they put up a terrible candidate, running on unpopular policies, who was deeply unpopular even within their own voting base. They couldn't even win over their own traditional demographics, and they were running against one of the most terrible candidates in US history.

You are wasting your breath here. Leftists don't need to be educated or encouraged about how to vote, or about the importance or otherwise of voting. We understand this stuff better than you do and we already vote for our preferred candidates. Also not everyone is American. You and your fucked-up country are not the sole focus of my attention on Lemmy and you don't get to badjacket leftists in our own communities just because its election season.

Why don't you stop spraying mouth foam, and instead think about what you intended to do here and what it has actually achieved. Who did you convince? Nobody. What did you change? Nothing. You are just doing the same sort of bullshit liberal performativity that makes the rest of us think you are a deeply unserious person.

Like seriously, if you have a problem with fascism in the US, why the fuck are you attacking the left? Just fuck off and focus on something real.

You're confusing being great with being a great man of history, lol. He sucks, but his effect on the American empire is fucking dope.

Clearly you're biased, because you've been fed American propaganda since your birth. Was bombing Iran justified? Gaza? Syria? Yemen? Iraq? Afghanistan? Libya? Vietnam? Korea? Fucking nuking Japan?

Your country is full of bloodthirsty imperialists and you're only upset now because trump is turning the fascism inward, lol.

Hey, my man, you came through, all the way with presuming I’m american.

Yes, we have arrived at the finale. You wish death upon america. You love palestinians, but 330m americans, several hundred million who never wanted anything to do with Iran, Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Vietnam, Korea, Fucking nuking Japan - they can get stuffed, and thanks to Elon and some handy cambridge analyica in 2015 to install this dude who should hang, but while he’s there fucking up the planet, why not cheer him on. Enemy of my enemy, you know how it works.

One human life is worth more than another, all under the lipstick leftism of pretending to care about Palestinian people. Nothing left wing about you. In fact, after that statement, there’s nothing left.

Thanks for finally taking your hat off. Next time, less foreplay please.

No man, I'm gonna kindly ask that you stop putting words in my mouth. Nowhere in my entire post history have I wished death on anyone, actually.

America is a country, not a person. I want the American empire to end and I want the country to be sanctioned out of existence, so that it stops murdering millions of innocent civilians across the globe.

Accelerationist or just kalingrad payroll completely not having any ideals or values whatsoever.

I did say that, because context matters. This is a SENATE race in TEXAS. You get shot with cop applause if you say you’re a democrat or anything other than maga over there.

And i agree its a dogwistle, but what’s the alternative. Get people in Texas to keep Paxton and therefore Trump?

Get both houses blue, impeach trump, remove at least Thomas through impeach too, possibly that other kluklux justice with the upside down flags, and then install more progressives, preferably with a grassroots funded superpac, or get a better SC to overturn citizens united, roe v wade and that other one that unlimits campaign finance. And only THEN do I see a reasonable pathway to dislodge US politics from insane levels of zionist influence.

Anyway, learned a lot today about who pays for Lemmy. Turns out I walked away from one spez right into the arms of a bunch of spezzes, except these guys live in hiding.
