Yeah, this requires context. For what reason do you feel unsafe, to the point that you have to lie in front of "friends"? This just reeks of social instability.

Yes? You think It's healthy to systemize lying instead of learning how to act social?

I think it warrants context for it to be understandable behavior.

No. I think that a lot of things go through even the most rational teenager's mind when trying to decide whether or not to bail on a bad situation, and removing "will they think I'm lame?" from that equation by pushing the social baggage for the decision onto someone who doesn't have any friendships to risk is a no-brainer. Keeps the kid safe, lets them learn with minimal consequence, and now they get to have a conversation about it the next morning over pancakes instead of through prison bars.

A misdirection or lie is a very small price to pay. And honestly, it's not even lying. If my kid feels unsafe, I do insist they come home, and I don't have any problem finding and exaggerating a reason for them to do so while still saving face.

They're learning how to be smart adults, but they can't be smart adults if they die while they're dumb teenagers just because the "but what if..." in their mind keeps them from making the call.

I don't see any need for additional context, the kid was uncomfortable and his dad was there to get him out, no questions asked, as it should be. They might want to talk about it afterwards, with an eye to understanding the situation better, and working out how to avoid getting into that sort of situation in future, but that's between the kid and his dad.

I could imagine a girl felling the vibes of a party shift. She could say she wants to bounce but then there will be questions and that may not be the vibes the rest of the party wants to hear. Some guy has cornered her all night. Or some bullies are there and she doesn't want to be with them but dosen't whant t to start something.

Because that's obviously the only thing this applies to. I'm sure you've confronted bullies, mobs, attempted rapes, beatdows, overdoses, etc, all on your own with no help whatsoever.

It's sad that we all can't be superheroes like you. It would make life so much easier.

Thankfully, you can solve everything all on your own, though. Apparently, this goes all the way back to your childhood, too. Where would this world be without your service, I wonder?

    10 out of 10 projection.

I understand that navigating social interaction is harder for some, but just because you are insecure, you needn't take it out on others. I take it that many people must have lied to you during your life for you to automatically get so agitated about what i said.

I did, in fact stand up against my bullies. I would highly recommend it, as it taught me alot about myself and who my real friends were.

Systemizing lying is a pretty reprihensible thing in my opinion, but you do you.

So, bullies, good for you. How about all the rest and don't you forget world peace while you're at it.

You seem to be able to do anything! In writing, at least.

Believe me when I tell you that you have no idea about what systemized lying looks like over generations and generations.

That there's true privilege. You seem to believe people have a choice in every and all situations. Unbearably naive, as it was said.

    Hyperbole, hyperbole.

I believe I said, dont lie to your friends. If they actually are your friends. If they aren't, why do you hang out with them?

But yes, you've been trained well by the outrage-baiters. Evertrying is a world issue, especially your issues.

You keep making assumptions. Perhaps I'm not American. Perhaps I grew in a regime where lies were a weapon, or paheraps I grew up watching one form.

Maybe my father was full of lies, maybe my mother or maybe even both. Maybe I'm undercover or live a lie for other reasons. Perhaps I'm a journalist who has to lie to get the truth out.

Perhaps I'm none, but one thing we all know is that you thun you're always right, especially when you know precisely nothing about the facts of thr matter.

Nothing about my comments assume anything other than what you've already said.

Your reactions does indeed point to you having some serious trust issues, typically found in people that weren't exactly thrilled by their parents.

Haha, a journalist! Definitely possible! Although it kind of detracts from the posit that i made, which was specifically about OP's #thathappened-post with questionable morals.

It really is fucking weird to lie to your friends in a situation when you just want to go home. Especially if they actually are your friends. It's shitty behaviour bordering on manipulative.
