I don't care what y'all think. Nothing about my food being hot or even warm makes it any better for me. I always burn tongue and even if I don't, I really don't enjoy rushing to swallow because my mouth is at risk of inflicting pain. Even when it's slightly warm, I don't like it. I want my food stone cold, no matter what the food is.

I always let my food cool down, not even to room temperature, I let it cool even longer and I eat everything stone cold. It lets me properly savor the flavor, without worrying about too much heat. Eating cold food for me is a relaxing experience, eating hot food is a panic-inducing one, and eating slightly warm food is boring, not any better than stone cold food. I'll even gladly eat food straight out of the fridge and enjoy it! I've been called "crazy" and "perverse" for this many, many times.

I like my food stone cold and refuse to eat it even mildly warm, always letting it cool down way below room temperature. Screw what anyone thinks 😆

That is a hot take, irony intended.

There’s probably some good scientific reason for eating meat hot. And coffee? I can kinda deal but the tea? Throw it straight out if it’s not piping hot and I don’t care how the Americans take it.

Yeah, umm...coffe and tea both. Stone cold, just like my food 😆
    Not even joking...

This raises further questions for me, since I'm a wanna-be coffee afficianado. You get much lower extraction at lower temperatures, with both coffee and tea. Do you grind coffee finer to compensate, or do you just enjoy weaker beverages? Also, do you mean room temperature, tap-water cold, or actually chilled? How do you make coffee (and tea)? Thank you in advance!

I have a coffee machine, so I make a pot of coffee, pour myself some, straight into the fridge with that mug. When it's cold, I add milk and drink it almost like a shot, all at once. I'm just weird like that...
With tea, I of course prepare it with hot water. Then remove the teabag, straight into the fridge. When it's cold, I enjoy my tea :3

Making coffee/tea like normal, then chilling it makes a lot more sense, with your specific preference. Iced coffee is also arguably the least unpopular part of your proclivities. Still not for me, but you go on with your cool self!

What about iced coffee? People love that stuff, and she’s prolly no different.

  • My wife likes iced coffee, too. I've tried it, I don't hate it... but it isn't for me. Not knocking those who do like it. I just prefer hot.

There's also cold brew, but I'm not sure if cold brew is meant to be drank cold, or if it's just brewed cold and it gets heated up. I imagine the former. That's probably fine too.

Most foods taste more when at least warm. Notice I said more, not better.

That's because once things get cooler, scent molecules don't hit your nose as well, and fat soluble flavors aren't as available to the tongue. Whether or not that's "better" is subjective, but you can test it out fairly easily

I'm the opposite on coffee and tea. Definitely prefer both really warm, but not hot, I don't like either cold, but I like cold coffee less than I like cold tea. I will finish them as a punishment for letting them get cold though.
