She went on to highlight the strange idea of applying an athletics policy around fairness to a homecoming queen election that amounts to a popularity contest: “For this there is no difference between me and any other girl that would be put on blast. There’s no competitive advantage; as a matter of fact, people are less likely to vote for me.”

The sports stuff is not about fairness at all. It's just there to normalize discrimination against us. Wish a trans journalist would point that out instead of just blindly legitimizing transphobic propaganda

Tall people have an unfair biological advantage at basketball. We need to ban anyone over 5'10" from playing

Totally true but I still think trans people should still be able to play sports along with the gender they identify as.

Maybe we can do something to handicap them to make it fair. Attach a series of increasingly heavy weights to them until their performance matches the cis athletes, make them play with bottles on their fingers like Luther in The Warriors, etc. There are lots of potential solutions but we have to make sure we don't lose sight of the main goal of putting a stop to unfair tall bias.

Can apply to any number of sports too. Look how fucking enormous the average linebacker is now.

It applies to all sports. There are no sports where the competitors are equally skilled. And the 800 pound gorilla in the room is that the most unfair thing in competitive sports is that some people grow up with lots of wealth and privilege and other don’t and guess which of those two groups is more likely to go to the Olympics or become professional athletes?

Really depends on the sport. Many sports are seeing wealthier people getting into them like football. Famously it’s effected the Brazilian team for the worse. But then you have sports like Track and Field where a lot of people doing it are poorer. It was my sport and being good at it gave me opportunities I wouldn’t have had if i hadn’t been good at it.
