    They were oblivious to the derogatory use of the word ni**ah. They have a church in a mostly black community where the churchgoing youth was dwindling so they made a rap video to address the local youth in a way they thought was fitting and hoped that young people would attend the sermons more. The local community enjoyed it because the couple didn't do it bad spirited. They profusely apologized for using the n-word, and explained what they were hoping to achieve.

    I am not American, so maybe that is why I never understood why words that are so terrible they should be never said, should be used inflationarily in mass media. Why their should be songs in the charts you are only allowed to sing faithfully if you have the right colour of skin.

    The Dallas Observer also criticized the song, saying: "it's cheesy. It's bad. It's painful." It described the song as having a negative impact on public perception of Christian rap.

    If anything this video probably improved the public perception by associating it with something lighthearted and fun.
