In order to work less (fewer hours or more time off), we need legislation that restricts work hours and requires companies to grant a minimum amount of time off. I agree with the sentiment that AI could free us up for more leisure, but in the absence of legislation, companies will just squeeze more productivity out of each worker without granting more leisure time.

    Honestly, if I was the leader of a religion, AI would seem like a great tool. Create an agent with live voice chat that is prompted to give all of the religion's fundamental ideas. A single religious leader could create the app, and millions could use it. The leader could assert that the app is designed exactly the way that ${deity} told the leader to design it, so that the followers are essentially talking with ${deity}. It would be just like THX 1138.

    Agreed.

    Dying slowly from an injection (or not at all) is more cruel that a bullet to the brain. You are right that these injections are done because observers don't have the stomach for an bullet to the head. But if you don't have the stomach to carry out the sentence, then you shouldn't be meting out that sentence.
