He's an elitist reformist whose allegiances are often questionable based on his actions.
A few months back, him and Pezeshkian pushed ahead with negotiations even when other sections of the Iranian leadership weren't on board due to mistrust of the Epstein empire. These negotiations led to nothing and Iran was attacked yet again. Then Pezeshkian and Aragchi were reigned in. Pezeshkian threatened to resign as a tool to create political pressure but it backfired, and he backed down.
Now, with things flaring up, again the reformists want negotiations despite Iranians being attacked every day.
Reformists in general are a plague for any country ripe for revolution, because their very stance is based in reaction. Not to mention most of these elites have investments and properties abroad that they're afraid will get seized if the war doesn't end. Iranian Bourgeoisie want the war to end so their profits aren't hurt, even if it means Iranian workers will have to suffer more.
BTW, all this is information I gathered over the last 6 months of checking multiple communities and news channels. It'll take me too much time to go and search for individual sources, so of you choose not to believe this, its completely okay with me. Have a good day
