It's just I get so bored stuck at home all day apart from hospital appointments, and what else am I supposed to do? But it's so stressful, why is everyone so horrible there? Even seeing other people get bullied stresses me out. I always tell myself I won't look at it any more, but then I always find myself browsing it again.

This time someone asked a simple question: Why is a fictional character in this book so poor when he has a full time job as a teacher? A couple of people explained that teachers are badly paid in the USA but like 400 other people jumped in with rude nasty comments to the OP about how stupid they are for not knowing american teachers are underpaid. The OP had clearly stated they weren't american and was just asking a simple question.

On another subreddit someone was waxing lyrical about how poverty is a choice, if you're poor, you've chosen that and the government should not give benefits to anyone as it just encourages them to be lazy.

literally anything is better than social media doom scrolling, an app like tufon can make it easy to follow comics/manga/manga/manhua with all their updates, and to find which sites host them in specific

If you're open to the idea, joining public telegram channels, matrix channels or discord servers just to talk about shit might also be a decent idea due to your immobility. Instagram is common among nearly everyone else and people I meet usually communicate from there, so that's another avenue for connections

Checking Reddit must've become a habit for you so I would try getting into manga/comics first, then blocking reddit, if you don't mind I can add you via Discord too

yappingIt's a private messaging app that mostly functions around public/private chatrooms instead

If you know how matrix works, then you know how discord works

Most online people use discord and nowadays most communities are built around it

It can house toxic people so it's not particularly safe, consider it like an open forum where the distance to interaction is zero, where people can come and go as fast as they want to (it's usually conversations between utter strangers in large servers)

Since you're new you probably won't know what to join, discord has a server browser for that. If you want both small and specific, disboard exists as a site and can show you some of them, do note that discord as a company is fully content to sell your data and privacy. You might do better in matrix but it's difficult to find public servers in matrix (i tried and failed, I didn't get into it for that reason)

TL:DR It's a public app for any community to gather in, for immediate conversations you can stop at any time. It might feel strange for you esp if you're new to it, maybe just try watching how conversations progress and lurk around if that's the case
