Those foods are to Japan as hamburgers and pizza are to america: foreign dishes adopted & altered to an extent that many people think of them as the cuisine of the adopter

    that's dialectics baby

food is not delivered metaphysically whole and unaltered then persists unchanged throughout time; all traditions are rooted elsewhere to some extent, and their adaptation to local conditions is what creates a genuine local identity

Japanese food is German and USAmerican? Makes sense given their shared fascist histories, I suppose!

Most historical food (and customs, and architecture, and artstyles, and drinks...) attributed to Japan are actually Chinese in origin.

Hell, even taxonomy has this issue, with many species being called Japonica but being indigenous to China! Camellia Japonica, even Japonica rice, one of the two big cultivars, is actually from China originally!

This is a problem because it erases Chinese identity and history in favour of their recent colonisers, which is actually politically convenient to anticommunism too.
