I love and contribute to OSM. I wish there was a good way to integrate traffic into systems without invasion of privacy though. 95% of the time when driving I know where I going already. I just need to know where the wrecks are, because those can add an hour or more to my commute.

    Waze, which is beyond evil, originally sold itself as that community kind of idea . . . "you tell me about wrecks, I'll tell you, and we'll all be better".

    Maybe some sort of app, based on OSM, that sends hashed information about wrecks and doesn't hold logs, could be a good thing?

    Per Snopes:

    Waze — which was founded in Israel in 2008 and acquired by Google in 2013 —  specifies in its terms of use that Israeli courts and laws govern the app's legal matters. Uri Levine, Ehud Shabtai and Amir Shinar, who reportedly served in the Israeli military, co-founded Waze in 2008.

    However, no credible, publicly available evidence confirmed or debunked the claim that Israel's government, military or other Israeli officials secretly use Waze to surveil the app's users. As such, we've rated this claim a mixture of true and undetermined information.
