If you’re a corporation, you can buy a politician to get that politician to rig the system for you so you make more money and you ex out every other market in which you compete. You need good healthcare. You need a good education. We need childcare. We need good roads and bridges. We don’t need to send our money to big corporations to subsidize them, we need to be invested in people so they have the human capital to be able to do all the things as they graduate and come out”

Since he started campaigning with Kamala and distancing himself from Hasan, I've become completely skeptical of him.

I don't like Hasan, but he had Abdul's back in this race. Hasan hasn't changed, and he knew who Hasan was when he chose to campaign with him. This speaks poorly of Abdul's character; loyalty means something.

Similarly, Kamala is a genocide enabling loser. I don't trust the political instincts or principles of someone who campaigns with her.

    That's understandable, and i partially agree, but i also diverge from the hexbear party line on that.

    I think he could be handling the Hasan situation with some more backbone, however I understand distancing himself because they are both Muslim guys in a super reactionary environment, and because he doesnt want to (and shouldn't be) accountable for every quote by a twitch streamer. Hasan has pretty much said "he's putting some distance between us, but the guy has got to win, so if thats what it takes i dont really care. That said, I think the way he's going about it is poor strategy". I'm inclined to agree, I think the worst part of the distancing tactic is that he hasn't pushed back on the worst smears about Hasan being an antisemite and comparable to Fuentes. That's bullshit.

    Like I said in a comment the other day, you wouldnt find me campaigning with Kamala, which is part of why I wont be winning a senate election in Michigan. My understanding is that there is some resentment between establishment-loyal black voters and establishment-skeptical Arab voters (who led the "uncommitted movement"). El-Sayed needs to unify the dem base after a tough primary and other smears, also El-sayed coming from the arab/Muslim side. Appearing with Kamala is one way to establish this unity with the black voters who voted against him in the primary. Perhaps they might want to get a jab back by letting "their guy" el-sayed lose after "our woman" Harris lost in '24.

    I wouldnt say I fully agree with the strategy, but i think thats the calculation.

    Also it is good and fine to be skeptical. He does not claim to be left of liberal, so he doesnt get a seat at the table. I do think he is honest about m4a and defending israel, which are big wins for us, and i dont count the distancing as punching left (just clumsy electoralism). I am putting myself out there a bit with this take, so im also closely watching for him to swing to the right in one way or another so I have an excuse to cut him lose. Hasn't happened yet though, and I hope he remains useful to those of us further to his left.
