I think that's not ironic at all, but a corr mechanism of capitalism which socialism and communism (the theoretical one, not whatever the fuck the soviets did) are going against.

Like, you wouldn't say "This oven heats up what's inside. Ironically, it's a change of temperature inverted from what a fridge does".

There was large backlash within the USSR as well. The largest drop in life expectancy outside of wartime in recorded history occurred due to the complete economic devastation and collapse of safety nets the dissolution had. It wasn't until the nationalists took power and threw out the western plunderers that they managed to get back on their feet a little bit, which is why United Russia and Putin actually do have widespread support despite most Russians today favoring socialism over capitalism.

The big thing with how the USSR was dissolved and hollowed for parts is that it couldn't really be replicated in the US. The USSR was overwhelmingly state-run, and then state industry was sold for practically nothing to western imperialists and the current nationalist capitalists in Russia. The US is already overwhelmingly privately owned, so to collectivize everything, dissolve, then sell for parts would just get us back to where we are today. Reaganomics already sold off the safety net built under FDR to the highest bidder.

The most likely course is that the capitalists in the US begin fighting as the super profits of imperialism continue to dry up, leading to crisis and potential for revolution.
