i don't get it. what's the joke here?

edit: after reading them all, the joke is that he became the sorceress that he tried to defeat.

    There isn't one joke for this strip, this is one of their occasional forays into longer-form storytelling, with humor added. Some of the strips like this one don't even really have humor. IMO the ending isn't supposed to be taken that way, it's just a joke at the end of the story.
