While it's unfortunate AfD got as many votes as they did, it's somewhat misleading to say that they 'won' given that none of the three other parties that won seats give them any path to forming a state government. In this case, the Greens, Die Linke, and SPD can easily form a governing coalition and leave AfD in the opposition.
