I unironically think that’s what’s behind Hegseth’s obsession with the BMI of the average soldier. While he and his ilk wouldn’t give up the modern military tech, they think it’s less important than how much the typical grunt can dead lift. It’s like Vader calling the Death Star insignificant next to the Force, except instead of a universal metaphysical power it’s the kind of shit that impresses meatheads at the gym.
