I was speculating with a comrade yesterday that the energy crisis could be a window of opportunity for a lot of folks to rethink urban transportation.
The car ideology would be hard to overcome in the US, so we came up with a sort of trojan horse rebranding idea of low-car garden urbanism as "golf course urbanism" to appeal to Trump's aesthetics. There would be no actual golf courses, but you could rename the bike lanes as "cart paths". Trump seems to really enjoy golf carts, so maybe it could work?
Some wealthy neighborhoods in the US already use carts like this, so maybe it is a possible stepping stone.
