Per Wikipedia: "Vegetables are edible parts of plants that are consumed by humans or other animals as food. This original meaning is still commonly used, and is applied to plants collectively to refer to all edible plant matter, including flowers, fruits, stems, leaves, roots, and seeds."

Fruit - botanical term

vegetable - culinary term exclusively

Though, fruit also has an alternative culinary meaning.

Interesting lil fact: The question of whether the tomato is a fruit or a vegetable found its way into the United States Supreme Court in 1893. The court ruled unanimously in Nix v. Hedden that a tomato is correctly identified as, and thus taxed as, a vegetable, for the purposes of the Tariff of 1883 on imported produce. However, the court acknowledged that, botanically speaking, a tomato is a fruit.[9]

Interesting little fact: a factoid is not a little fact, it's something that appears like a fact but is in fact false. Think like how an android is a fake human, a factoid is a fake fact.
