I'm not pop culture pilled enough to know much beyond Thrift Shop and I have no clue what you're saying with the Charlie Murphy comment.
Though if Macklemore had just done the pro Palestine songs without specifically yelling "free Palestine" to the crowd, then I don't think anything would've happened. Not giving any excuses, just theorizing that the moneyed interests are less concerned about activist language when it's masked by art. They more fear the explicit calls to action that leave little room for interpretation.
