Wildlife are less likely to mistake it for something eatable as well.
I made the mistake once of buying a string of C7-sized Christmas lights to put up on my house one year. Turns out squirrels around my house thought they were acorns or something, and literally chewed the bulb assemblies off the wire. They weren't even up for a week before I had to take them down and trash them. Now I have rope-style and mini-icicle lights that the wildlife seem content to ignore.
