I've heard bees are more productive at making honey than they actually need. They'll make so much that they abandon a hive full of honey and start a new one just to make more.

    Dunno if that's true or not, but the claim gives big "those slaves just love being natural slaves" energy.

    Yeah I've been convinced by the comments here. There could be ethical honey. Just like theoretically there could be ethical milk/cheese, but the profit motive incentives abuse and exploitation. If you paid money for it, there is a 100% chance that a bee had to work harder than she would have otherwise with no recourse.

    It's not the same as eating meat maybe, but the principle holds.
