Well, neither were the other name changes, but he did it anyway. And people bent the knee.

This is what happens when the public who put him in charge don’t push back and keep giving a raping narcissist zero boundaries.

Americans should do something about this. I mean they won’t, but they should.

I just came back from visiting America.

I visited someone there, and she didn't even know the great lake had been renamed (and she's generally up to date).

I'm not sure people there are bending the knee, they're not even aware

I think you guys assume every single thing this dude does people should run out in the streets gun blazing. Tweeting that he's renaming some body of water is not something anyone cares about, it won't stick.

To be fair, renaming the lake was done pretty recently, and it's relatively minor considering all the other shit going on (especially the Iran war), so I'm not that surprised it got lost in the noise for some people. But the folks bending the knee largely tend to be the ones with their hands on the levers of power/influence--case in point, Trump renamed the lake via executive order, which means only government officials are compelled to use the new name, but Google Maps went ahead and changed the name anyway just to leave no boot unlicked.

    but Google Maps went ahead

    And Apple.

And you are exactly right. I don't mean to say the everyday American is switching to these new names donnie came up with; my point was that the powerful bent the knee, almost immediately, and with no objection at all. The only people adopting these in the everyday are complete choads.

I'd say most are 'aware' but treat a good deal of his bullshit with all the seriousness of a toddler throwing their latest tantrum.

We got a 40T debt Starting wars every which way Deporting anyone darker skinned than his daughter Pilfering everything in reach Planetary climate destruction because drill drill drilll Etc...

Things like totally officially renaming the Gulf and lake and similar stupidity that will be undone with EO one of a subsequent sane admin doesn't really register.

    What do you propose?

There are already massive protests, he's constantly getting sued and losing, a lot of families have been split up by the left wing and whilst Murdoch media sucks their dicks, a lot of other journalists don't.

Other world leaders have also been telling him to fuck off, including Iran (who are in the firing line).

Everyone wants to be a hero, but unfortunately, the problem was that everyone was caught off guard by how much his dementia had degraded.

No different to the Vegas shooting where every right wing wanker thought if they were there, they would have stopped it.

When I visited America a week ago, nobody was wearing maga anything

The problem is they got too many votes by gullible people, but he's rating poorly even on fox now

The real test is the midterms and what Democrats do immediately after if they have the votes to force him out of power, and create new legislation to reverse everything

They have to follow the law, otherwise, it won't work long term

The real test is the midterms and what Democrats do immediately after if they have the votes to force him out of power, and create new legislation to reverse everything

This is the catch, chances are they won't have it. They'll likely have the house and maybe even a majority of the Senate, but I don't think there's even a way for them to get 2/3 of the senate, so some of the Rs would have to grow a spine and look to reign him in.

They would have the capacity to withhold fundings, which he tends to just take money from wherever and he wants anyhow, and could impeach him a 3rd time, bit actual removal is unlikely. So what to do is ever the question. Constant investigations and if they somehow claim the senate it opens some doors.

The problem becomes he does whatever he feels like and nobody can do shit in the proper channels because unlike with Nixon people are too firmly set on team sports mentality to dare take a stand without checking with their image people and a dozen polling places to decide if it's safe.

Again, he CONSTANTLY gets sued by them. Impeaching a 3rd time at this point is pointless, and actually helps Republicans, because it takes resources away from democrats from doing things which are more effective. There are limited resources, and its important to use them on things that DO work

They've done things with their power like block the renaming of the kennedy centre, and now, block Trump from trying it again at all.

Apple are genuine suckups in general, however, in Google's case, Republicans have been up their ass even during the Biden administration.

To They were angry about dumb things like Trump coming up first link when you search for idiot. And, to the best of my knowledge, Google didn't change anything there with the algorithm to block that. Furthermore, they only apparently changed these names in the US (so, they're doing the bare minimum).

In congress, they even ignored the official answer, and said they believed Google could track them as they moved across the room.

So, I wouldn't say Google are really bending the knee, but closer to doing the bare minimum for him.

Tim Cook however handed him a present (for no reason). And, Republicans seem to do nothing about Apple, despite a lot of anti-consumer behaviour (I suspect many have Apple shares).
