After receiving cease and desist letters from twitter and subsequently shutting down all instances on August 24th, Nitter has announced that it will resume its operations in the near future in an update from the 7th of September. The update reads:

On 24 August 2026 cease and desist letters were sent by X Corp. demanding a permanent takedown of Nitter instances and the project's repository.

Following legal advice, the Nitter project will continue. This instance and others will be back up and running shortly. An announcement will be made within a week, once we're able to reveal more information.

I feel like websites and projects like this should be left to Russians so they don't have to worry about legal stuff. All these projects developed by individuals located in the West can always be shut down one way or another.
