    Not to the same degree. In Europe, liberals are exactly people like the Dem leadership: free market true believers. People that explicitly reject “the social question”.

    They consider themselves right wing.

    I mean sure.. but the country dealing with the most widespread and rapid rise of fascism due to the complicity of liberals at the moment is the US.

    Simultaneously most western european countries while dealing with the same issue to a lesser extent are reigning in a lot of the mechanisms that allowed fascism to take hold.

    In light of the above it's likely and logical that OP is aimed at the US, which is obviously not in europe.

    And in the US liberals and leftists are synonymous.
