Basicly the reason (face recognition) for banning hijab doesn’t apply for kippah

    The local social fascists are having a meeting near my house. One of the pricks going there had his stupid pervert glasses on and a body guard. That these people pretend to be part of the left is just pathetic. I'm so glad climate change will get much worse.

    You think burqa. A hijab is just a scarf covering hair and neck, the face is exposed.

    And even you are probably not taking about the garment you're thinking of. A burqa is specifically the one with the grille on front of the eyes and is mostly worn in Afghanistan. The internationally much more common face veil with the eye slit is called a niqab.

    I learned this after five minutes of research back when conservative politicians called for a "burqa ban" in my country. That they didn't even know what kind of garment they wanted to ban or that there's more than one type of face veil told me a lot about how much thought they must've given the matter.

    "burqa ban" in my country. That they didn't even know what kind of garment they wanted to ban or that there's more than one type of face veil told me a lot about how much thought they must've given

    1. "Defund the police" doesn't mean actually remove all cops; just supplement them with care workers for better success and change their interaction rules for better outcomes.

    2. "No datacenters" doesn't mean "zero datacenters" because we realize that while toxic new datacenters rush-built with no oversight are wasteful, toxic and damaging to the local and global environment, we understand that secure consolidated housing of our personal, healthcare. Criminal/court and research data is important to its integrity and availability long-term. So it just means "no bad datacenters wasting power and water just to make weiner dog animation"

    Yet

    1. "They said burqa. They can only mean it literally, the indolent fucks"

    We can be less hypocritical.

    I'd expect politicians who want to restrict a basic right like freedom of religion to communicate what they want to do and why instead of throwing out a slogan that requires interpretation. Besides, when they did give a reasoning they kept using the word "burqa". It was pretty clear that they neither knew nor cared about any details.

    The whole thing was an exercise in thinly veiled xenophobia (keeping foreign looking people off the street under the guise of helping women) and thankfully didn't get very far.

    (Also, "defund the police" was a pretty bad choice for a slogan and allowed the opposition to paint the movement as hardcore anarchists.)

    I wish I was allowed to wear one occasionally. They look so comfy and cool in summer to keep the harsh Australian sun off

    Where I live, I would either be harassed for "cultural appropriation", or harassed for "looking like a terrorist" (people are pretty racist around here). Blasted by both sides; no thanks, I already get harassed enough as it is.

    Head and neck scarves are really good on your own property for yard work and stuff though. It does some magic thing that keeps you really cool. It's like having a mini fan pointed at your face at all times.

    TBF look at the image in the screenshot op posted. It looks like they deliberately chose a photo of someone with brown skin in a brown hijab because, if you don't look closely, it looks like it covers her face.

    They might have chosen the image to insinuate that Muslims are black but since they put it so bluntly side by side with a Kippah I don't think they were actually going for a dog-whistle. I don't really like looking for "hidden dog-whistles" in things.

    The full image is a bit clearer, encoding might have destroyed it since it's a screenshot of the image.
