    Luigi's lawyers got a bunch of shit thrown out and he probably plead out to avoid potential death penalty. In the face of what he was up against it might have been the only move.

    I think the tipping point was when the judge allowed the backpack evidence despite the chain of custody shenanigans. If the judge is willing to just accept whatever bullshit the pigs make up despite it being completely illegal, it's already apparent that the judge isn't going to let Luigi walk

    not guilty implies winning, luigi's recent plea is disappointing when everything looks like the prosecution can't meet "reasonable doubt"

    I don't think this is a realistic reading of the facts.

    "Not guilty" also does not imply winning. All it means is you aren't giving up yet. Maybe that's because you have some good cards to play, maybe it's because you're waiting to see everything they have, maybe it's taking time to come to terms with the fact that you're going to prison for most of your life.
