If you have decent health insurance, DO NOT go through workers comp. "Their dime" isn't worth 2¢ and they'll delay so long irreversible consequences will result.
If you fall and break your leg at work, drag your one-legged ass to your car, drive home, call an ambulance, and say it happened there, then use your insurance.
Never use workers comp unless you have no other choice. It's not fair but it's your health.
Edit: I'm being a little dramatic with the leg thing, obviously you need to take care of that immediately. But if you hurt your back, tell your doc you did it at home, ditto for anything that doesn't require immediate attention. As soon as you involve workers comp your insurance won't cover anything and you'll be at the mercy of workers comp. A Google search will tell you all you need to know about that hellish experience.
