Fishing is simple.

Its so simple that toddlers can do it, unassisted.

Thats why fishing is one of the biggest,easiest outdoor sports one can get into. You need no training, no experience, no youtube video, no manual, no explanation, to be able to do it. You just put a worm on a hook, and throw it in the water.

Thats it. Thats the basic essence of fishing. thats how the vast majority of people fish. Its not expensive, its not complicated, Its not rocket science. Its not difficult.

and thats exactly why these particular types of chuds do it. They arent out there working jigs. They arent out there tying complicated rigs. They aint out there spending hours casting and working artificials. They are out there, putting a worm on a hook, and throwing the line in the water.. So they can then turn around and get into their drinking, often heavily, and bitching about women, until the rod tip boings.

I dont know what crawled up your ass about this issue, but its fucking ridiculous to be "but ackshualley" against someone who actually knows these types of people and is answering the question about why so much of it is about fishing.
