'Value' as a verb could mean in nearly any concievable context or form. It just means 'is important to us in some unspecified way'... and then the actual specifics are in the ToS you probably don't read. permalink fedilink source hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 23 hours ago (1 child) Pretty sure there is no law anyone has to use the wording "we value your privacy". It's more likely to be just something they put there to make more people consent to data processing. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 point 8 hours ago Its a corpo slogan/saying that derives from trying to do good PR and also simultaneously incur literally no legal liability whatsoever. There, that's more precise. But yeah, this is why so much corpo speak means damn near literally nothing by way of being immensely vague or misconstuable. permalink fedilink source parent
