which would mostly mean that it works as painfully slow in Wales as in most European countries, but at least doesn't have people routinely dying on the wait list as in England.

From experience it takes ~2½ years to get a WGS referral and then at least another year for hormones. Surgery waiting lists are agonisingly long due to the lack of surgeons in Wales capable of carrying out gender affirming surgeries, but the referral just requires social transition + being on testosterone blockers for a while so is typically quicker than in England even though they have more people capable of doing such surgeries.

Different story for trans mascs from what I've heard in that there's plenty of surgeons that can do top surgery but a lot of medical gatekeeping.
