Someone during the 2020 primaries said something to the effect of "Bernie is the only one who can draw down the empire gracefully" and I think that was spot on. Trump is blowing it up trying to do too much at once without a coherent plan, Biden was keeping things as they were and letting it slowly die (hillary and kamala likely would have done the same).
