Aurora Store is good enough for most. It's still on Google Play, but you're not using the Google Play app and you can even pick which version and see an Exodus tracking report before you download.

Rather than finding the same app elsewhere, though, you should be looking for alternative apps on FDroid and the like. Unfortunately though FDroid is terrible for searching for apps, you just kind of have to "know" about the app you're looking for first, somehow..

    I would recommend a different front end for fdroid repo like droidify, neo store etc. I haven't used official fdroid app in ages but the 2 above are pretty good. Has many categories to choose from and search works fairly decent as well.
