The only linux distro ive ever stuck with was ubuntu but ive been on it steadily for some time now. So I'm not very qualified to speak about this topic. My silly observations No snap/Canonical nonsense. I don't hate snap, but it's not compatible with my workflow. Overall lesser number of processes OOTB compared to Ubuntu. So I can quickly find out if there is a stray process running via htop. Terminal operation/reboot seems way faster Slower update frequency, so no random feature changes Less RAM/disk requirement (Important in the post AI world) Some quirks when coming from Ubuntu No sudo! You either have to install sudo/sudo-rs/doas. I went with doas Debian manages network differently (Not netplan) Lack of support from Nvidia if you work with AI. I don't, so not a problem. If you need to deploy a server with mainly docker workloads, just go with Debian.
