you're supposed to season tofu, that's why it's so versatile. Are white people eating tofu plain and that's why it has a bad rep about being "plain" in flavor? Do people cook meat without seasoning?

    The number of people I grew up near whose entire exposure to "spice" was salt and occasionally pepper is staggering. My younger brother introduced his wife's family to paprika as an 18 year-old, and it blew their minds. This wasn't even the midwestern US. My own mother asked where I got "the spicy ketchup". It was Heinz. She isn't allergic to tomatoes, and had been eating ketchup her entire life.
