The pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a tropical plant with an edible fruit; it is the most economically significant plant in the family Bromeliaceae.

The pineapple is native to South America, where it has been cultivated for many centuries. The introduction of the pineapple plant to Europe in the 17th century made it a significant cultural icon of luxury. Since the 1820s, pineapple has been commercially grown in greenhouses and many tropical plantations. The fruit, particularly its juice, has diverse uses in cuisines and desserts.

Pineapples grow as a small shrub; the individual flowers of the unpollinated plant fuse to form a multiple fruit. The plant normally propagates from the offset produced at the top of the fruit or from a side shoot, and typically matures within a year.

It might be an incredibly bad idea to even engage with you on this, but frankly, this is a HUGE red flag, and to be even more frank, you don't sound like the hero of this story.

I’m being vague with it cause it’s very personal, but I’ll just be 100% with you on what happened

CW: Discussing topics such as gender dysphoria revolving around pregnancy and suicidal ideation

I’m actually trans. I hide it because the trans community was really soured for me from this interaction. I also stealth in all ways in person for safety reasons. Least to say I’m very thankful I’m capable of doing so.

The individual in question didn’t properly CW a somewhat common trigger amongst the trans community. In my case, it’s the complete inability to get pregnant and have children. So why did I interact? I was a moderator of the trans community and asked them to please properly format their post so as to not trigger others such as myself. They outright refused and accused me of abusing my power when I told them I would remove such posts in the future. They then publicly asked how to block me and blocked me. In moderator chat off-site, others said I was fine, but nothing was done at all. No warnings. No backing up. Nothing. All things considered, it sent me into one of the worst depressive episodes in my life. It was several months of crushing depression through a fucking SSRI no less. I mean, I almost committed suicide. I am thankful for those around me to say the least. I am thankful I’m still alive.

So that was that story. I don’t like recalling it. I don’t like thinking about it. I’m sure if I gave my past names, that someone can vouch for this. However, it’s such a unique incident that kristina probably knows who I am.

Idk. At the end of the day, I just want everyone to feel safe in this space. CTH and Hexbear have been a part of my life for a long time. It oft feels more like the message boards of yore rather than something like reddit. I just want people to be able to interact with each other with empathy in mind, you know?

Okay, it doesn't sound like you were wrong, and I hope I didn't pre-judge you too harshly. I just don't want the right to disengage or block to be weakened, because that would create all kinds of ways to harass people that we all decided should be forbidden from very early on in this site. You're right that everyone should feel safe.

You’re perfectly fine and had every right in the world to have thought the way you thought. People being intentionally vague like that oft lends to them hiding something incriminating. So I get it. I’d dig out the post in question if I thought I could find it, but I doubt I can. The megathreads back then were like 1000 comments strong.

I don’t think that ability should be weakened either. I just want people to have the ability to avoid seeing content that can send their mental faculties into the Mariana Trench. I worry cause I know we all have our proverbial daemons and no one deserves to go through what I had to.

just wanna say i remember when that happened and I'm really sorry you had to go through that and i'm glad you're still here comrade. i really relate cause i have a (while not the same but similar) very bad trigger about that kind of topic too that can fuck me up hard for weeks. and i've felt unsafe to participate in communities here too when content warnings weren't taken seriously. content warnings are so important and necessary. you deserved better in how that was handled cat-trans
