He now sells it to NATO who gives it to Ukraine for free, which has shifted a large portion of the cost of the war from the US to Europe. This was already the plan under Biden though as well, and had already begun under him. Europeans can get mad at Trump for shifting the cost of the war onto them, without being critical of the war itself. A great way to launder it by Trumpwashing the unpopular aspects like budget cuts to social services.
