The Treaty of Fort Jackson (also known as the Treaty with the Creeks) was signed on this day in 1814 at Fort Jackson in Alabama. The treaty was agreed upon in the aftermath of the defeat of Red Stick (Upper Creek) resistance by U.S. forces at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.

The treaty was the "largest single Indian cession of southern American land", according to historian Michael Rogin - around 23 million acres in Alabama and Georgia. The U.S. forces won with the battle with the help of allied Cherokee and Lower Creek forces friendly to the American side.

The terms of various treaties with the Creek nation would go on to be consistently violated by Americans colonizing the south.

I live abroad out of my birth country but it is 100% true that there's a big difference between the natives of a culture and the diaspora but if you tell that to 90% of the diasporoids they will FLIP THEIR SHIT. Bonus if it's the reactionary diaspora of any left-wing country too lmao claim to speak for us all.

As someone who has never been to their home country and lives in the US, I absolutely hate that I've been cut off and deprived of my culture. I have no idea how anyone else in the diaspora thinks they aren't living in a different culture than the one they originated from. Capitalism and white supremacy will strip you of your birthright, insisting you conform to their belief system, while still considering you an other.

People who shit on their ethnicity as pick me diaspora are the worst. They get the wall, as far as I'm concerned.

You just have to laugh at the reactionary Chinese diaspora spewing “we are the true inheritors of Chinese culture before it got destroyed by gommulism” out one end of their mouths and groveling “mister white man, I hate black people too, I am just like you” out the other

That’s why for every lawsuit involving “anti-white discrimination” there’s almost always some Chinese-American diasporoid involved, eager to be a loyal dog cheerleading for crackers, desperately trying to become white by competing with the ghost of Hitler for who can be more racist.

Somewhere on the Chinese web there’s a video of a reactionary ABC talking to someone from the mainland and going off about muh authoritarianism gommulism. Then the mainlander asks the guy “why should I give a shit what an American thinks about my country? Why should a foreigner have any say over what our culture should be like?” and you can see the ABC’s brain short-circuiting in real time.

The Chinese diaspora, despite being cringe in many, many ways, is somehow above average as far as diasporas are concerned. A lot of it has to be with the unmistakable rise of China and decline of the US, so people are less reluctant to completely sever ties and act like some shameless banana. Even ABCs know what's up.

In my experience, most first-generation diaspora cherrypick both the motherland and the current country they live in. It's all about following tradition and not forgetting your roots unless they no longer benefit from said tradition and roots then it's suddenly all about Americanizing and "doing as the Romans do in Rome." There's that joke about getting their sons married in a traditional Western wedding and their daughters in a traditional Chinese wedding just so the parents don't have to spend money on either weddings lol

The more recent the immigration, the better in my experience. Descendants of pre-PRC immigrants, HK and Taiwan immigrants are more likely to be reactionary, I’ve met quite a few giving off Hitler particles. Not surprising for the few of them that are descendants of landowners that had their egg monopolies seized. I vividly remember one of those guys telling me how rich he was gonna be when Trump makes the sissypee pay reparations for taking his family’s land in Chongqing.

Unfortunately I saw it a couple years back on bilibili, it’s been living rent free in my head ever since. I’ll try to find it but Chinese social media search function is famously terrible. This type of interaction happens pretty often though between Chinese exchange students and ABCs at universities
