What would that matter depending on exactly what you're using to provide content to your tv. I have two smart tvs, I don't use the smart aspect of them. I use streaming sticks on both of them. You don't have to purchase a commercial TV for that. In fact a lot of commercial TVs still have all the streaming connectivity capabilities as well. I know this because I installed them regularly as menu boards in many many sites. You never required to connect any TV to the internet. You never required to connect any system to the internet. But like I said it's going to matter what you're using to actually get content to your tv.
