I am appreciative of the ecology that surrounds me. I care about the working class people that live around me (and across the planet). The governmental structures do not exist for my benefit in most situations. I care about the local services that maintain the day to day existence of my city/county, but at the state/nation level there is little reason for me to consider loyalty. The power structures at these higher tiers are so removed from me, they are much like the executives and board members of so many wealthy and influential corporations. These superstructures serve the interests of capital in direct opposition to my interests in almost every situation.
