I told myself I'd go to Curiosity Stream once they accepted different payment methods than credit cards but DAMN SON! That price... Edit: Oh wait... that's annually... okay, I'm still with it. Edit2: And I got them mixed up with Nebula, that's where I really wanted to go... damn. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] djdarren@piefed.social 9 points 4 weeks ago (1 child) I've got Nebula. Took 'em up on a deal on an annual sub when Tom Scott started his new series on there. It's...fine. It's nice to watch channels like Mr Mobile without adverts, but channels like Not Just Bikes and Mustard already run on YT without ads. Sure, there's an ad for Nebula at the end their episodes, but it's right at the end, so is easily skipped. Don't get me wrong, there's loads of stuff on there, but discovery isn't particularly easy, and most of it is USA-centric, which doesn't really interest me. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] anon6789@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 child) I finally got around to remembering to try out Nebula, and I get disappointed because most of the time I forget I have it. Like you, a lot of what I watch is already on YT, and my wife has a grandfathered (for now) premium account which we can share, so I already have ad free YT. I agree on the discovery too. It feels like I have to work to find something that strikes my fancy if it's not from someone I'm already familiar with. Not sure if creators having easier access would make it better, and I like seeing what channels are real creators and not AI, but I find once I find someone I like on Nebula, I just watch them on YT instead. I'd really like to support them, but I'm struggling to feel the added value a bit. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 2 points 4 weeks ago (1 child) When your premium dies, install ublock origin and sponsorblock permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] anon6789@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago Already running ublock on everything I touch. It's so weird when I go on someone else's computer or phone and see ads on YT! I was running something with sponsor block in the past, whatever app it was that needed that MicroG utility to install/update, but once that stopped working with Chromecast, i quit bothering with that, but I did love it. permalink fedilink source parent [–] remon@ani.social 3 points 4 weeks ago Edit2: And I got them mixed up with Nebula, that’s where I really wanted to go… damn. I have the lifetime sub for that one ... so at least no price increases :D permalink fedilink source parent [–] swicano@programming.dev 5 points 4 weeks ago Oh that's per year! Not quite as bad as I thought permalink fedilink source parent
