I hate Facebook so I like that part of this. My partner still has a Facebook, but only for the marketplace really. I don't live in Australia so it's not immediately useful for me, sadly.
Did you consider making it like self hostable and federated? A centralized platform owned by some dude, even some dude with an intact soul, brings some risks.
i haven’t read up about federation and the required APIs and connections required but totally open to it!
Look into activitypub protocol. I'm not saying to open-source your work if you don't want to. But this would start a movement.
I'm with you my dude. I fucking hate FB but it's been the only way to get local services now. (In America btw)
I feel this would be an effective way to actually remove some of the Meta stranglehold on this.
