Anon accepts a prestigious job
(thelemmy.club)
This is a place to share greentexts and witness the confounding life of Anon. If you're new to the Greentext community, think of it as a sort of zoo with Anon as the main attraction.
Be warned:
If you find yourself getting angry (or god forbid, agreeing) with something Anon has said, you might be doing it wrong.
I don't know where to to find data entry jobs though, I couldn't find then in 2022, 2023, and now LLMs seem to be doing them all.
To a zoomer, the prestige of a job is also affected by how non-demanding it is, ergo data entry is a prestigious job
I dunno, data entry isn't mentally demanding in the same way as some jobs, but that doesn't mean it isn't demanding. You're expected to enter at or above a particular speed, and it can be boring which is a different kind of mentality demanding.
It's not mentally demanding. It is however mind numbing and mentally draining.
I used to be a security guard, which is similar levels of undemanding. You try watching a bunch of black and white cameras all night, you get to the point where you go, oh look, a moth in genuine excitement.
did data entry for 2 months during a break from uni. It fried my brain. I was bored to shit and came home with a headache each day. I was so glad when I was done digitising all documents and was allowed to do some light programming instead.
I reckon I'd be fine with it. I'm built different when it comes to boredom and repetitive tasks. I've just remembered I actually volunteered to do data entry for a historical records website, recently, but haven't gotten around to on boarding because I have other commitments.
I do value your insights though, thank you. Will help me judge when to quit if I do find it tough
