Colonel Saunders was never actually a Colonel or even in the military.

His house in Mississauga, Ontario is for sale. Buyer gets one year free chicken.

    Actually he was a Colonel, just not a military one; he was a Kentucky colonel, which is some sort of state honor or something

    ETA: he also actually did have a brief stint in the military, but as a private and not a colonel
