In theory, HIPAA is in play here so, without consent, no one can say anything to the public about the specific patient and their medical details.

    HIPPA does not overrule the responsibility of a senator to represent his constituents. If he is unable to perform the duty, then he forfeits the seat.

    I was just giving a possible reason why there's silence. I do think that certain information on public figures and their ability to do their jobs should be public and handled accordingly.
