But France is one on the worst in the EU, if not the worst, in terms of repression of anything. When repression doesn't work, our politicians decalre that there were just not enough of it to work, and increase it.

The deshumanisation and othering of communities those in power don't like, by politicians and media alike, is well advanced and increasing. Our poorer citizens and inhabitants get poorer by the day and die of homelessness (or at home from extreme thermal conditions). Our richer scums get richer by the day.
