Trying to blame this on all men (not sure why gay men are exempted?) instead of on Republicans is a great way to alienate a large portion of potential allies.

Next time a woman says something stupid on Fox News it is time to blame all women?

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 14 points 5 days ago

Many women (mothers, girlfriends, sisters, classmates) also play a major role in creating the warped masculinity that Watters is fantasizing about.

So if you're looking for blame, it goes all over the place, including on closeted queer men like Lindsay Graham and Pete Hegseth and Jesse Waters and Andrew Tate and Ben Shapiro.

If you've heard someone taking about Rape Culture and thought to yourself "I don't even know what that is", you can always watch that video again and notice how all three other people on set calmly wait for him to finish, including the woman seated directly to his right.

My dad mom is great example. My sister went to her for help with dad's abuse and basically said just take it and pray for him. Just kept enabling it with no consequence.

lmao you think Democrats aren't rapists too? Brother they did a fucking holocaust, you think they draw the line at rape? They're just quieter about it.

This is absolutely an "all men" problem in terms of the culture men create and rarely speak out against, not literally in terms of each individual man.

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 days ago

When the Democrats are in power, they block the Epstein files. When the Republicans are in power, they block the Epstein files.

[-] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 4 days ago

When did dems block the epstein files? They were in open cases so couldn't be released.

Maybe voting them out of power was a dumb decision

[-] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

That is such a flimsy excuse.

[-] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 days ago

Following the law is an excuse?

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

"I was only following the law" - Person who makes the law

[-] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 3 days ago

So you want them to allow releasing evidence from ongoing cases? Or do you want them to just do it selectively? Aka biased?

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 0 points 3 days ago

Epstein's case was covered up by many people for many years. Stop pretending like it's just from conservatives.

[-] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 days ago

But the guy who was pictured with Epstein numerous times, who Epstein had called a horrible human being, was promising to release them all! Also all the immigrants eating the dogs. It had to be him. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

Fair point but you will have to then move the line to "all Americans" instead of "all men".

If all men normalized this the comment section would look wildly different.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago

Have you seen some of the comment sections on Lemmy?

We've got men musing about how "naturally consensual" 14 year olds are with absolutely no moderation stepping in.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago

I have no idea what you are talking about but this sounds like wild interpolation.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

You can pretend like this isn't a common thing amongst a wide swath of men, but you're wrong. It's not just Americans.

There's a lot of sexist and misogynistic views that are not only allowed to be kept up on Lemmy, but are highly upvoted and supported by the men here.

Some men do normalize this and the comment sections do reflect it often.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

Can you point me the commenter saying that what the Fox News host said is awesome?

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I could point out the comments calling a rape victim hot in the womensstuff community if you'd like.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I just posted an article you might find illuminating. Groups of men collaborating online to masturbate and cum on women in public to humiliate them.

They use online forums to bolster and lift each other up, encouraging each other to violate women for their own satisfaction and then share with the group.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

You said on Lemmy. Using an obscure internet forum to push the narrative that all men support it is ridiculous.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Again, I could pull the comments about how hot a rape victim is from the womensstuff community if you’d like.

I know there’s quite a few users here that I could easily find comments joking about rape and threatening to rape someone. I’ve got some in my own DMs!

Or the comments in shitposting about how naturally consensual 14 year olds are.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Sure show me the comment. I am expecting many upvotes and the comment not being deleted.

The only blatant rape apologia I have seen on Lemmy was when Graham Platner raped a Republican woman but even the female valiant allies of women like Emma Vigeland were totally on board with that so clearly not a men problem either.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

There was a lot of rape apologia when it was known Platner raped multiple women, not just the Republican.

Thanks for reminding me to pull comments from there as well.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Just for fun I checked if you posted about Platner raping the Republican woman and I cannot find anything about it. Only when the Democrat was raped did you start posting about it.

How very convenient.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I wasn't even really on Lemmy when the Republican woman came forward, this isn't the gotcha you think it is lol

Not posting about something is a far cry from encouraging men to sexually assault and rape women. Why are you comparing the two?

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

It was not that long before the second rape story you were certainly around by then https://nypost.com/2026/07/07/us-news/graham-platner-accuser-rips-ny-times-after-rape-claim-against-dem-senate-candidate/

Not posting about something is a far cry from encouraging men to sexually assault and rape women. Why are you comparing the two?

You are comparing gooner creeps with all men on the entire internet. Since we are doing wild leaps of logic mine is much more fitting.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 days ago

That article isn't from when she first came forward either. Her story came out officially on June 4.

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 days ago

You are comparing gooner creeps with all men on the entire internet.

I never said all men on the internet are doing this.
