Got any good write up of the current state of the war? According to that thread crimea is under siege and Russia is basically reduced to a single oblast.
Zelensky just fired the defense minister, something that famously happens when things are going very well and you don't need to switch strategies.
On the ground it is the same as ever, Russia makes extremely slow territorial gains while grinding away. Losses on the Ukraine side are slightly higher than losses on the Russian side but they're pretty close to even and comparable in my opinion which explains the extremely slow progress. Ukraine has recently managed to hit some targets inside Russia that produced big spectacular visuals so pro-Ukrainian social media has recently been invigorated into believing Ukraine is winning again. But the situation on the ground is mainly the same, Russia grinding them down very slowly.
to be fair, that defense minister was actively preventing steiner from counterattacking. we should see some REAL action now!
I don't think that's true. I think Fedorov and Syrsky clashed because Fedorov wanted Syrsky to make another attempt at an offensive on Crimea (stupid idea, very doomed) and Syrsky was saying no.
Fedorov's deep strikes into Russia have produced some spectacular propaganda but has it actually improved their war position at all? No, I don't think it has. So he's been thrown out and someone with a more traditional approach is coming in.
What this probably means is that the deep drone strikes are going to stop and the resources going to them will start appearing on the frontlines again. That's not going to enable an offensive though.
i was making a joke :)
Inside you there are two leaders
Zelensky ranting from his fuhrer bunker.
Putin ranting from his furher bunker.
The war is pointless please stop fighting
Moon of* Alabama did one on firing of the general.
This might be a good start, but I have not yet listened to it myself: https://hexbear.net/comment/7314195
The Events in Ukraine guy is always interesting, unfortunately the newsletter is paywalled. You can get couple of paragraphs for free though.
Simplicius publishes regular news summaries/commentary, many of which are not behind a paywall. These are not overviews but are written with some eye towards the bigger picture. I don't know of anyone writing full overviews.
