Things they're best known for:

Dinesh from Silicon Valley

Raj from Big Bang Theory

Kumar from Harold and Kumar, and also the Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement during the Obama Administration

I would say that Kumail Nanjiani might also be well-known these days for being the guy who had a role in the Marvel flop "Eternals," and a subsequently hilarious press junket and social media tour.

And Kal Penn was also Dr. Kutner in "House MD," which was mostly notable because his character was suddenly and unceremoniously killed off so that Penn could go work for Obama.

Silicon Valley was pretty big when it was on. Now Kumail is just in everything. Can catch his voice in a ton of animated stuff, too.

[-] JoeBigelow@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 day ago

Jesus, is that why they did that? That episode fucked me up

[-] ilinamorato@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

I think I heard that the showrunners were upset that he left them so suddenly, so they wrote him off in the most ignominious way possible.

[-] 4am@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

I’ll always know him as Prismo

[-] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

There was a great story about why he didnt voice him in the first season of Fiona and Cake since I noticed right away when it wasnt his voice. Thankfully he was back in season 2 and all was right with the world.

Kumail Nanjiani also had a role in the awful Kenobi series. Although of the three I think Kunal Nayyar is the one who had the least remarkable roles.

[-] candyman337@piefed.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah I almost mentioned both of those tbh, but I second guessed myself

[-] sem@piefed.blahaj.zone 43 points 1 day ago

[-] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Also for the Bob's Burgers fans, Sarah her sister Laura play the twins Ollie and Andy Pesto, respectively.

[-] Spur4383@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

For the voice of glitchy in Wreck it Ralph

[-] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Vanellope, which I only remember because that's a dope name.

[-] OS2Warp@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

[-] DasFaultier@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

That's right. Also (among other things) for appearances in SNL.

[-] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 day ago

She had a show and was on a bunch of celebrity roasts too

[-] SpinItBetter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I have to recommend her comedy special PostMortem from last year about dealing with the deaths of her parents. Amazing performance.

[-] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

known for School of Rock

[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

And support of Israel's genocide

I used to think she was cool

Sadly, she's shitty.

[-] technocrit@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Silverman from supporting genocide.

[-] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

I feel like Kumail has come a long way since Silicon Valley. I see him all the time, he even does commercials still.

[-] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I know him from Taskmaster!

[-] i_love_FFT@jlai.lu 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You'll never guess what Tom Morello studied at uni

[-] stark@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 day ago
