I was nervous, but it was great. Got a bit cold at 50ft, so we turned back. It was off the Marine Room in La Jolla. The water was real choppy, so it was not an easy swim out to the canyon.

But I did it, and I’m proud. :)

We saw a shark (about two feet long), and a bunch of lobsters.

Amazing!!! Is it hard/heavy to breath from the tank? Like, is there resistance, or does it feel like normal breathing? What are the red and green dots? 😊

    It’s not that hard. It kinda feels like you’re breathing through a three foot hose, cause that’s kinda what you’re doing. The first stage regulator sits on your tank and delivers low pressure air to the second stage regulator, which is the part you breathe from. It’s something you get used to pretty quickly.

    The first dot is the beginning of the dive. The red dot is an ascent speed alarm, because I was ascending too fast. The series of close green dots are my computer kinda being a dummy and starting my safety stop over and over again. The safety stop is supposed to be at 15’, but we did it at 20’, since we were coming in along the sea floor, and it was easy to stop there. The computer starts your safety stop at 20’ and expects you to ascend to 15’ and stop, so it kept restarting the safety stop over and over as I was hovering around 20’.

    Through the dive, I used 1257 PSI, which is not terrible, but not great. Basically, I was breathing heavier than normal, cause I was a bit nervous. Plus, when I get cold, I tend to breathe a lot heavier (which is normal, not unique to me).

    If it feels like breathing through a hose, consider changing the “Breathing Resistance” setting of your regulator (if you have one).

    I don’t. My regulator is pretty old. I’m probably gonna get a new one. But you still have a mouthpiece in, so it’ll always feel like you’re breathing through a hose in that regard.
