The President of the United States still talking about the threat of Marxism 27 years after the end of the cold war and the “end of history” should be an inspiration to us all. They’re still scared, we’re still relevant, and the Spectre of Communism is still haunting.
Communists in america have graduated from "that thing in the past that no longer exists, you're just a child if you support it" into "Communists are the greatest threat to this nation".
I think that's actually quite a significant turning point. They are identifying communists as a sincere and growing influential force.

Yes! this is the sentiment that was kicking around in my head seeking a more perfect explanation. This cuts to the core of my optimism: we're finally at a real turning point.
