To be fair Calvin basically is at fault for the turn to material goods by American protestantism

    I just think all these theological arguments are stupid - whether it's Dawkins blaming everything on nebulous 'religion', or people blaming the middle east on shia/sunni tensions, or the supposed incompatibility of Judaism and Islam, or blaming America on 'Calvinism'. They are dumb explanations.

    It reeks of "Christianity was awesome until Paul/Augustine/Constantine the Great/Leo IX/Martin Luther/John Calvin ruined Christianity forever."

    I did see someone here posf "Modern christianity is a perversion of the greatness that was the medieval Church" to some upvotes at one point. We get weird about religion
